Our Process & Style

Digital photography offers incredible possibilities, but the real magic happens behind the lens and on the editing table. Here's a peek into Mimo’s approach to capturing your love story on your wedding day:

1. Capturing the Feels, Not Just the Poses

Of course, we can guide you through some classic poses and Insta worthy shots. However, our true passion lies in capturing those candid moments that brim with real emotion. The joyous tears, the belly laughs shared with your best crew, the stolen glances between you and your love – these fleeting moments tell the real story of your day, and that is our number one focus.

2. Flawless & Flattering aka The Art of Meticulous Editing

Digital photography allows us to fine-tune every detail, making sure your photos are absolutely stunning. We take a lot of care with our colour grading, making sure your skin tones look natural and radiant, and that the overall mood reflects the joy and love of your wedding. Plus, we have a knack for removing those pesky photo-bombers (unless it's your crazy Uncle Frank and his epic dance moves – those are definitely keepers!)

We pride ourselves on our colour grading – keeping skin-tones natural and true to colour. Our images are elevated through micro adjustments that consequently depict ‘Mimo’ style which sets us apart. By maintaining the natural hues of skin, our images withhold a timeless quality that transcends trends allowing the memories to resonate authentically through the ages - and this is perhaps what Mimo is best known for.

Throughout the final digital album and imagery, you’ll recognise an artful play of techniques. It is the combination of photographs that are considered the ‘perfect’ sharp image capturing a moment in time that are interwoven with abstract photographs, emphasising a floating feeling or emotion. Combined, these illustrate the entirety of your wedding day.

3. Your Day, Captured Discreetly

Think of us as your paparazzi on your wedding day (except way cooler). We'll blend seamlessly into the background in between your dedicated ‘photo session(s)’, documenting your day without interrupting the flow of emotions. Our goal is to capture your love story authentically, without ever stealing the spotlight from the real stars – you two… Except for an accidental fall over the speaker whilst walking backwards photographing our couple on entry at Garden House. Turns out we can be entertainment too... classy. Our couple were absolute heroes about it. After all, we're only human.

A few of our favourite wedding photographs

Our digital photography isn't just about clicking a button; it's about capturing the essence of every moment BY the click of a button. Candid, emotional, unscripted - these are what make your day uniquely yours. We are obsessed with vibrant colours, intricate details, and capturing the love story behind the images, reflects the natural beauty of your wedding.

Our signature style blends candid, storytelling photography with a touch of editorial flair. We're obsessed with vibrant colours just as much as moody light, intricate details, and the genuine emotions that make your day unique.

We understand that to really delve into the entirety of your wedding day, our images need to encompass not only our couple at their finest moment but the sideline scenes that are playing out in front of our eyes at the same time - The cultural traditions, tears of your loved ones, old mate Sally who’s stiletto got caught in the grass and the uncontrollable laughter shared with your best friends.

To help out your wedding mood board, we have pulled together some of our fave digital wedding photos below – take a peek.

Top 4 reasons to use digital photography

  • Unlike with some other forms of event photography, using digital cameras on your wedding day means that you and your photographer (hopefully your pals at Mimo) can see photos right after they're taken. Why is this a good thing? This allows for quick adjustments on the day (think shadows, incorrect lighting etc. that can compromise your end product) and ensures you capture the perfect moments, with no nasty surprises once your photographer turns over the final product. So, If you’re feeling a bit insecure or nervous about the end result of your photography, we are able to show you how things are shaping up on the day!

  • Now depending on your preference, this can be both a good and bad thing to some customers. Unlike film, which generally has a limited number of exposures, digital cameras allow photographers to take hundreds or even thousands of photos. This increases the chance of capturing those fleeting expressions and candid moments, and gives our customers a large selection to choose from. However, if you’re a stone cold stunner that only needs 1 shot takes, then our 35mm film could be a good option for you, you gorg thing.

  • Whether it’s a bright outdoor ceremony or a dimly lit reception, digital cameras perform well in various lighting conditions. Having a digital camera on hand allows photographers to capture clear and beautiful photos without relying solely on flash.

  • Digital photos can be easily edited to enhance colours, adjust lighting, and remove minor imperfections. This is one of the Mimo specialities - call it a bit of a secret weapon if you will. Our love for colour-grading and editing is unmatched. We get excited about bringing out the best hues in every photo, ensuring the colours pop and everything looks just right on your big day, regardless of skin tones & complexions. We can also make a variety of other micro adjustments to your images, like positioning, which can help to alleviate insecurities on the day.

Ultimately, the best way to decide what type of photography to use on your wedding day is to find what style of photography you’re into (think editorial, moody, photojournalistic, candid etc.), then talk through how to best capture this with your wedding photographer.
